Where on (Google) Earth? #117
This time, I've pulled a new trick out of my hat. I have altered the color balance of the image, so that you can't just scan the continents at a wide zoom looking for something that has the right average tone.
Y'all will have to do some geologizing instead. And if any of the sedimentologists can explain how this sort of drainage pattern evolves, I'd love to know.
Schott Rule is in effect: Wait one hour per win before posting. The winners list is in the WoGE kmz file.

That's pretty evil...but cool drainage though. Unfortunately, I've got papers to grade.
I don't have google earth but will just guess: somewhere in a glacial outwash zone. Far north latitudes. Permafrost. Canada? Siberia?
Gosh, a little color change and you guys get all confused. What if I told you all that it was deltaic?
I think we already knew deltaic!
I've searched the Ganges-Brahmaputra River Delta and the Indo-Gangetic Plain so much I think I'm ready to qualify as a riverboat pilot. If it's hiding there your camouflage job has succeeded beyond your wildest hopes. I've searched other areas too, but I'd still put money on the fact its hiding in that drainage somewhere.
Maybe you could offer a hint about why you thought altering the color scheme was necessary in this case. I really don't think it's something I'd suggest repeating - IMHO I'm not sure it's helping the game.
Ron...we could open a joint company of river boat pilots. i am definitly running out of rivers and deltas that i can think off. :D
I'm a color-oriented person, and I don't do that well on WOGE when the color hasn't been changed (so far) - so I won't even try this one!
But Ron, those rivers have water in them! What if you traded your riverboats in for camel trains...
... well in that case I suppose you'd be in the western Chari River Delta, Northern Cameroon, south of Lake Chad.
Well played, Dr. Lemming! I withdraw my objections to your color alterations - they were not as drastic as I had imagined - though I don't think I'll be doing that with my own challenges anytime soon.
Well done, Ron!
I honestly didn't think this would be that hard. I figured that the natural color (more bluish) would automatically exclude the Australian dry rivers, making the search too easy. The hardest part, BTW, was turning the overlays back to white.
dang, that was a long one ... a new record methinks ... I was just about to stop being so lazy and go for it.
WoGE #118 is up.
Google earth is really a great help from google. But sometimes we get confusing maps and locations from it.
